Start to Finish Rehab for a Ballerina
Sarah is a 15 year old that initially came to our office complaining of back & hip pain that abruptly started. It concerned her because the pain made it difficult to walk between classes at school. Sarah thought this was odd because she is normally in great shape and regularly participates in rigorous dance, more specifically ballet.
Luckily Sarah was able to get into our office a few days after the initial onset of her symptoms. This contributed to her quick success and full recovery.
Her treatment first started with a bio-mechanical assessment and hands-on manual therapy to fix her alignment. Her physical therapist, Dr. Panetta-Young was able to alleviate all of her symptoms within the first two weeks.
From here she continued with sport-specific (ballet/en point) movement exercises to strengthen, stretch, and address her unique needs. The program Dr. Panetta-Young designed for her was targeted towards addressing any gaps of physical conditioning. This also included physical conditioning, strengthening, range of motion techniques, and neuromuscular re-education.
Sarah has happily returned to all of her daily activities including doing what she loves most: DANCE.
